Terms of service
Effective 1 September 2026. Adapted for Caalim from the Loola AI Inc policies of 5 July 2025.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of Caalim and the website at caalimapp.com, together with any services provided through them (the "Services"). The Services are owned and operated by Loola AI Inc. ("Loola," "we," "us," or "our").
By using the app or the website you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to them, you may not use the Services.
2. Description of the Services
Caalim is an AI-powered study companion for students. Once you have created an account it provides:
- Lesson Summarizer: turns lengthy material into its objectives and key points.
- Revision Helper: generates question-and-answer revision material from a chapter you choose.
- Question and problem help: answers to subject questions, including from a photograph of a problem.
- Tests and quizzes: subject-specific assessments with results and feedback.
- School tab: where your account is linked to a school using Layli, the homework, summaries and revision that school assigns, and the marks that follow.
To provide parts of the Services we engage partners including Sifalo and Waafi for payment processing, and third-party AI providers for content generation and marking.
Caalim is currently available in Somaliland and Somalia, on Android. Availability in other regions and on other platforms may be added or withdrawn at our discretion.
3. Registration and accounts
You register for Caalim with a mobile phone number, which is verified before your account is created. You must provide accurate and complete information, and you are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Keep control of the phone number and device your account is registered to, and tell us promptly of any unauthorised use.
Where your school registers you, your account is linked to that school and to the class it places you in. You may use the study tools whether or not your account is linked to a school.
4. Coins, payments and what they cover
Caalim is free to download, and every new account is credited with 15 coins when it is created. Caalim is not otherwise free of charge without limit.
What coins are spent on
Coins are spent when you use Caalim's own study tools on material you choose yourself, including the Lesson Summarizer, the Revision Helper and question help. The number of coins a given action costs is shown in the app before you confirm it.
What coins are not needed for
Work assigned to you by a school that uses Layli does not cost coins. That includes opening and answering set homework, reading summaries and revision material your teacher has assigned, and seeing your marks and feedback.
Top-ups
Further coins are bought inside the app and paid for with Waafi or eDahab. Payments are processed by those providers under their own terms, and we do not receive or store your mobile-money credentials. Coins are a licence to use features of the Services, carry no cash value, and cannot be exchanged or transferred between accounts.
Prices, coin costs and the size of the signup credit may change. Changes apply to purchases made after the change takes effect.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not use the Services to:
- Harass, defame, intimidate or threaten any person.
- Infringe the intellectual property rights of others.
- Upload or transmit viruses or other malicious code.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services, or the servers and networks connected to them.
- Share an account, resell access, or automate use of the Services in order to obtain output in bulk.
- Engage in any other activity we determine, in our sole discretion, to be harmful to us, to the Services, or to any third party.
6. AI-generated content
Summaries, revision material, answers and marking produced by the Services are generated automatically and may contain errors. They are a study aid and are not a substitute for your textbook, your teacher, or your own work. Check anything you intend to rely on. Where your school uses Layli, a teacher reviews automated marking before it is treated as final.
You keep ownership of the material you submit. You grant us the licence necessary to process it in order to provide the Services to you.
7. Intellectual property
The app, the website and the Services, including all content, software and code, are owned by Loola AI Inc. and protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, distribute or sell any part of them.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold Loola AI Inc. and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees and agents harmless from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Services, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of another person or entity.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Services are provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Loola AI Inc. does not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure.
10. Limitation of liability
Loola AI Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, special, incidental, consequential or punitive damages, including lost profits, loss of data or business interruption, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Services, whether or not Loola AI Inc. has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
11. Termination
We may terminate your account or access to the Services at any time and for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update or revise these Terms from time to time at our sole discretion, and will give notice of any material change. Your continued use of the Services after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Dover, Delaware for any action not subject to arbitration.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Arbitration shall take place in Dover, Delaware, and the decision of the arbitrator shall be final and binding.
14. Miscellaneous
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Loola AI Inc. with respect to your use of the Services. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect, and our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of it.
We may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, without restriction. You may not assign or transfer them, or any right granted under them, without our prior written consent, and any attempted assignment without that consent is void. These Terms do not create any agency, partnership, joint venture or employment relationship, and you may not make any representation on our behalf.
